Captians,
Please be aware that the October monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 October, due to the public holiday on October 5. (The meeting was originally scheduled for Monday 12th, however the bulk of the Committee will be unavailable at this time due to Nationals.)
Hi all
Last night the Maram Concords defeated the Earls of Erindale 15-12 in a playoff for 3rd. After 14 rounds both teams had finished on equal points, and then still couldn’t be separated by a playoff match, forcing a further best of 5 playoff, which the Concords duly won 3-0.
The draw for Division 5 tomorrow night now reads:
5th Division
Darcy’s Defenestraters vs Earls of Erindale @ Kaleen Tavern
Mercury Bar Quick Silvers vs The Maram Concords @ Mercury Bar
Good luck to all teams tomorrow night.
Regards
Chris Jones
ACTEBA Tournament Director
Hi all
What a finish to the season! While Division 1 threw up no surprises, every other division brought about a final round that changed the finals make up.

But first of all, congratulations to The Maram Rail Runners on a perfect season. 14 wins from 14 games is an outstanding effort and good luck to them in the finals series.
Div 2 saw the Pidos go down to the Stars, handing the Stars 7th after the Katz lost, plus allowing the Scorpions to grab 2nd.
The top 2 teams in 3rd division were playing for the Minor Premiership tonight, but the top 4 was so tight that the loser was a big chance of finishing 4th after dominating all year. To quote one reporting captain, “you couldn’t write this script”, the Pirates and the Crackpots drew to hold onto their top 2 spots, despite the Demons and Cougars both winning their final games and finishing a mere 1 point back, the top four finishing 26, 26, 25, 25. Can’t wait for that finals series!
4th Div saw the Deep Pockets steal a home final as the Gringos went down.
A loss to the Quick Silvers saw the Defenestraters take out div 5 by 3 points, but it came down to percentages otherwise. In fact, 3rd and 4th (Earls and Concords) finished on equal points and frames, resulting in a playoff for 3rd next Monday night.
Commiserations to the teams who missed out this season – we know you’ll be hungry to get there next year. In the meantime, come down and a watch a finals match or two and cheer on your mates from the other teams.
The draw for Round One of the Finals is below, can all home captains please inform their venue of the match.
A reminder that these matches are a race to 13, no need to keep playing once a team has reached that mark. Should the match end in a draw, both team captains need to provide the other captain with a list of 5 players (in playing order) for a race to 3 playoff. These 5 players must play in the order that is given to the opposing captain. The result of the playoff is then added to the final result, i.e. if you win the playoff 3-1, the final score is 15-13. Any queries on this feel free to call me.
The next umpires workshop will be on Saturday (26 September) at the Maram from 1:30pm.
We will look at some obscure situations and have lots of practice (and run exams for anyone who hasn’t done one yet).
Please come along if you are available – this is likely to be the 2nd last workshop before the nationals.
I still need at least 10 more umpires; if you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know.
A form for all those wishing to register for umpiring at the 2009 Nationals is now online.
