Schedule of Play

Clashes have been avoided on all of Friday and Saturday. There may be some clashes on Sunday. I’ve had a look at shuffling everything around and really the only way to avoid them would be to create other inconveniences like having the first round of Ladies on Saturday, or having players in the Masters have long breaks between matches. That said, if you notice anything whack just let me know and I’ll do my best to resolve it.

If it turns out there will be clashes on Sunday then I will take a look and see if there can be any shuffling around based on the specific matchup to try and enable everyone to continue playing all comps.

There will be live streaming of two tables for all of Saturday and Sunday, matches to be confirmed. Sunday please wear a collared shirt but a dress code won’t be enforced.

We are trialling a new SMS feature in Poolstat for these events to send out the match PINs so keep an eye out for those, these will also include your table allocation.

Lag for first break and then alternate breaks.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out but I will be there on Friday night and on Sunday.

Lag for the first break of each match and then alternate breaks.

Venue / Start Time

Harmonie German Club

11AM start with an estimated 4:30PM finish on Saturday

11AM start with an estimated 5:30PM finish on Sunday, or 8:00PM finish if a double final is required

Format

The format is a double elimination scotch doubles. Unfortunately we had one team have to pull out so one less team than last year, however that does make the draw and schedule more straightforward. The race to for the first round of the main draw has been increased in response to that.

From the Master’s Doubles last weekend the observation was that doubles takes longer when it is in the Scotch format, so please be mindful if you are discussing after every shot to not impede on the 60 second time limit.

2023 Masters Doubles – Results

Wow! This weekends Masters Doubles was a marathon contest!

Congratulations go to Murray Jeffries and Phil Morton who prevailed in a tight final over Ged Johnston and Doug Percy 7-6 with the final finishing at 9.17pm!

A big thanks to Trent Billington and Mark Suhr for adjudicating on the weekend!

Thank you to everyone who played in the event! It was a fun weekend and we learnt a lot playing Scotch Doubles to the new International Rules.

Cheers Fred Johnson
