Scott Hourigan – ACTEBA Most Improved Player for 2014

At presentation night last Saturday, Scott Hourigan was announced as Most Improved Player for 2014.

This award is decided by the executive after recommendation by our Tournament Director who analyses players statistics and performances.

Scott had a great year and improved his ranking from 65 to 30 with some consistently good performances both in our Wednesday night team competition and in the open singles.

On behalf of the executive and members of ACTEBA – Congratulations Scott!

Paul Berger – winner of the 2014 Richard Taliaferro Award for Sportsperson of the Year

Congratulations to Paul Berger, who has been voted the winner of the Richard Taliaferro Award for Sportsperson of the Year for 2014.

Paul accepted the award with a short but very gracious speech at the annual presentation night last Saturday.

Besides being a member of the Fyshwick Tavern Avengers team, Paul is also a generous supporter of and contributor to ACTEBA.

Richard Taliaferro Award

Hello all,

Nominations are now open for the Richard Taliaferro Award for Sportsperson of the Year.

The purpose of this award is to perpetually recognise and congratulate ACTEBA members for consistent displays of outstanding sportsmanship.

Any current ACTEBA member (or any member of the last completed season) may nominate any member that they believe to have consistently displayed outstanding sportsmanship over a period of at least the previous two full consecutive seasons. Note that previous winners are not eligible to be nominated – the intent of the award is that it be passed on to a new winner every year.

You may e-mail your nominations to me, Dom Stinziani, at VP@acteba.com.au. Nominations will close on 31 January 2015. A nomination will count as one vote to the nominee.

I will then send out another e-mail informing you all of the nominees, as well as listing them on the ACTEBA website Any member may then register one vote only for any one nominee by informing Matt Kendrick, the ACTEBA Webmaster. (webadmin@acteba.com.au)

Matt will keep all votes confidential and will inform only myself (or another core Core Executive) of the outcome once voting has ceased.

The nominee achieving the highest number of votes will be announced at Presentation Night on 21 February 2015, and will be presented with a memorial keepsake and a perpetual trophy (silver plate) engraved with their name and the relevant year of play. The perpetual trophy is kept by the winner until the next presentation.
