JOE MORRALL – RICHARD TALIAFERRO SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Joe Morrall of the Chickenbones, who was voted as this year’s Richard Taliaferro Sportsman of the Year.

Joe was presented with his award at last Friday’s annual presentation night. A richly deserved award for a highly popular member of our eight ball community. Well done Joe!

And a big thanks to all who attended the presentation night, a good time was had by all. Thanks also to the Belconnen Labor Club who did a great job catering for us.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all in ACTEBA.

CHAMPIONS OF CHAMPIONS 2015 – THE FYSHWICK TAVERN EMBALMERS

Hi all,

Congratulations to the Embalmers, Champions of Champions for 2015!

In a close match played at Chisolm Tavern last night, the Embalmers defeated the Schroomptons by 15 frames to 13.

Well done also to the Schroomptons, there is no disgrace in going down to a very good Embalmers team.

Thanks to all who participated in the tournament – players, spectators and venues.

Re Champion of Champions Grand Final

Hi all,

There has been a late change to the venue for the Champion of Champions grand final on Wednesday night, in order to avoid any home ground advantage.

The final between the Embalmers and the Schroomptons will now be played at Chisolm Tavern instead of Fyshwick Tavern.

Still an 8 p.m. start, spectators still most welcome.

Hi all,

Here are the results of the semi finals of the Champion of Champions tournament, which were played on Wednesday night at the Fyshwick Tavern.

Embalmers 20  Eagles 15
Schroomptons 19  Whalers 10

Congratulations to the Embalmers and the Schroomptons, and bad luck to the Eagles and Whalers, who both played very well to reach the semis.

The grand final, to be played at the Fyshwick Tavern next Wednesday 2 December, 8 pm start:

Embalmers vs Schroomptons (+4)

This should be a great game, let’s see if the Schroomptons can take advantage of their handicap to upset the Embalmers. Spectators most welcome.

Hi all,

The third week of games in the Champion of Champions tournament were held last night.

The Schroomptons defeated the Avengers 15-10

The Embalmers defeated the Motley Cues 18-13

Congratulations to both winning teams and commiserations to the losers. We are now down to the last four teams.

Next weeks games, both to be played at the Fyshwick Tavern, 8.pm start:

Whalers (+4) vs Schroomptons

Embalmers vs Eagles (+10)

The winners of next weeks games will play in the grand final, also at the Fyshwick Tavern.

I would like to remind everyone that teams can only field players who have been registered with them in Summer and Winter Competition for the year that Champion of Champions is being run (in this case the 2015 Summer and Winter Competitions). Additionally, competing teams must have at least 4 members of their victorious team included. No other substitutes are allowed.

Nominations have now closed, and voting is open, for the 2015 Richard Taliaferro Award for Sportsperson of the Year.

Graham will keep all votes confidential and will inform only myself (or another Core Executive) of the outcome once voting has ceased.

The winner of the Award will be announced at Presentation Night on 11 December 2015.
