Hi all,

Don’t stress if these don’t come out at 9am on Thursday mornings (I might have set the standard a bit high!), they will eventually come out… I have updated the ladders to include all bonus points from the last meeting, and have attached the detailed ladder. Results follow, although I am still missing one result from last night… cheers.

Results: 2011 Winter Round 5

Hi all

Apologies for the late sending of results, our ATD has other commitments this week.

Below are the results and attached is the detailed ladder. Please note my manual calculations of for and against are not official, but should be pretty accurate. I also apologise for only including team names not venues, again this is manual so trying to save time.

Good luck to all teams next week.

Regards
Chris Jones
ACTEBA Tournament Director

2011 ACTEBA Open Singles Champion

RONY SOOD

A massive congratulations to Rony on winning his first Open Singles Title. This was Rony’s second state final after his runner up in last year’s Open Doubles. It was also his second attempt at the Open Singles Top 4 after finishing 4th in 2008.

Rony beat Anthony Chia in the final 9-4, stepping up his game to another level after Anthony had won all 3 matches in the round robin stage to enter the final as slight favourite.

Results: 2011 Winter Round 2

Hi all,

With 40 teams, I was most impressed to receive 42 sms last night / this morning. All teams reported their result before 9am, which I think might be a record (or at least the first time that’s happened for a long time).

2011 ACTEBA Open Singles Top 16 Results

Hi all

After an exciting and draining two days of eight ball, we have the first 9 players to be offered an invitation to the 2011 ACT Mens Team, as well as out final four players in the two month long search for our State Champion. A massive 480 frames were played this weekend, with it all coming down to the final two frames at the table deciding our top 4 and potential top 9. Not to mention 3 frames separating 6th from 12th…

If you want to put 480 frames in perspective, by the way, that’s the equivalent of 20 rounds of Wednesday nights all in one weekend.

A cold July Canberra morning greeted the players on Saturday as they arrived at The Maram for two days of the toughest Eight Ball in the ACT. With four rounds of 15 frames ahead of them, it is always the player whose mental stamina is the toughest that wins through in these rounds. With 9 spots in the State Team and 4 spots in next weekend’s State Championship up for grabs, the players’ mental stamina was going to be severely tested.
