Our players are still punching above their weight leading into the half way mark of the round robins. With the ACT having the lowest player membership amongst the competing states, the performances so far show we have the skill in our little territory to take on all comers.
The Open Team are currently 5th after a win and a loss today, with Michael Hazilias sitting 9th in the country on stats. We didn’t find as much luck in the singles, as all bar Mongrel fell tonight, but I guess we can take solace in the fact that former ACT reps Travis Crawley and Steven Woods made it through (even if Woodsy did beat Rony…). Mongrel is back in action from 10am Friday against the 14th seed Mark Robertson in the 3rd round (round of 32).
The Masters won their first match today to move off the bottom of the ladder, Mongrel now sitting 9th in the stats.
But again our Ladies continue their great run. A win over the defending champs South Australia was a massive achievment, and Nicole Welsh continues to lead the stats on an incredible 88.88% with 16 wins from 18 frames.
A reminder that 5 of the ladies will be joining Mongrel from 10am Friday as they contest round 2 of the Ladies Singles (round of 32). The ACT have the second largest participation in round 2 and did I mention that Les and Cindy both knocked out seeded players? 7th and 8th seed, for the record…
Good luck to Mongrel, Nicole, Cindy, Michelle, Cath and Les in their matches. And good luck to their opponents. May the best player win, as long they are from the ACT.
Again, check the AEBF website during the day or wait for Matt Power’s email or my blurb at the end of the day…
