A disappointing day for the ACT doesn’t dampen our hopes at the half way point of the cahmpionships.
A loss for the Open Team today has left them in 5th spot, but encouragingly Michael Hazilias is shooting 66.67% and sitting 7th on the overall rankings, while Steven Woods (of Cage Rattlers but unfortunately NSW fame) is topping the championships. The team has taken some big scalps so far and their key players are starting to hit their straps so watch out for a big second half from the ACT boys.
Mongrel fell at last in the Singles to end the ACT representation, but he will be keen to keep it going in the Masters Singles tomorrow.
The Ladies sufferred their second loss today to slip to equal 3rd, but Nicole is still sitting 2nd on the stats. After last year’s 3rd place, the girls are definitely marked by the other teams but they are keeping up the performances this year.
The Ladies had the second biggest representation in the second round of the singles, but they were unable to turn this into a third round avalanche, with only Michelle Massey winning through. Interestingly, the lady who beat Nicole today is also sitting 3rd in the stats, and beat the lady who is sitting first in the stats in round one, meaning that the top 3 players so far were locked into the same 1/16th of the singles draw…
A close loss today for the Masters left them still in 7th spot, but they will be hoping for a big performance in the singles starting Saturday.
So at the half way mark I will give an A+ to the Ladies Team, an A to the Open Team and Shelly and Mongrel, and a B to the Masters Team (come home strong fellas!!!).
Can any readers please make a comment of support for our teams so they can know we who are left behind are cheering them on???!!!
P.S. My two little girls are sending text messages to the teams so if they can do it so can you…
Regards
Chris Jones
