We are now taking entries for the 2023 Australia Cup selection trials.
Entry to the trials is via the Eventbrite page here: https://www.eventbrite.com/…/2023-acteba-australia-cup…
What is the Australia Cup?
The Australia Cup is an event that targets players who may not usually get the opportunity to play at Nationals, enabling better exposure to the pressures and quality of players around the country. While we don’t have specifics on dates yet, last year the Australia Cup was run alongside Nationals, and players could expect the dates to be somewhere around 18th-28th October at the Albury Commercial Club.
Eligibility
No eligibility requirements will be enforced for entry into the ACTEBA Trials event. However entrants are to note that once we have selected our team it will be submitted to the AEBF who will vet the entrants. At this stage we believe the only eligibility criteria are that you must have won less than 45% of your frames on average over your past three Nationals appearances.
Preferred day of play
There is no preferred day of play for this event. Players should expect to play both days.
Competition format
The final competition format will be determined based on the number of entries. Players should expect some sort of round robin that will take place over both days.
The top 12 players from the round robin will then be divided into two teams of 6 to play in the Australia Cup.
Play schedule
Play is likely to commence at 10am and finish around 5pm each day. Tables will be open half an hour before the expected starting time for practice.
ENTRIES CLOSE Tuesday 1st of August @ 7pm
We will be looking for at least two adjudicators – one for Saturday 5th August and one for Sunday 6th August.
Any further questions or clarifications please don’t hesitate to contact the Tournament Director.
