2025 Winter Season Registrations Now Open

Entries are now open for the 2025 Winter Competition and can be made via PlayHQ at the following link: ACTEBA Winter Competition 2025 Registration

The Season

It will be a quick turnaround on registrations with the new season starting on Wednesday/Thursday 4th/5th June and entries will close on 29th May. Team Gradings and the Captain’s Pack will then be put together.

Any entries received after 29th May will incur a $10 late entry fee.

Life Members

If you are an ACTEBA life member, please message the Tournament Director for a discount code.

Play HQ notes:

  • You need to create an account to complete the checkout. Creating an account will also mean you don’t need to fill out your details next season/event.
  • If you have represented ACTEBA at an AEBF event in the past 5 years you must pay an additional $20 AEBF affiliation fee. This is done on Step 5 of the registration, which confusingly comes after the Fees Summary page. ACTEBA is required to ensure our members are paying the correct affiliation fees to the AEBF so if you have represented please ensure you’re paying $105 total rather than $85.
  • The AEBF affiliation fee is a single fee per calendar year so members will be required to pay it again prior to the 2026 Summer Season. Note that while you’re paying it mid-year, it is also covering the affiliation from January 1 2025 until now.

Well done to everyone that played over the weekend. There were many top quality games that could have gone either way. Special thanks to our adjudicators Doug Percy on Saturday and Georgie Genders on Sunday. An excellent job as usual from you both, keeping the games flowing all day.

See below the results from the group stage of the 2025 Masters Trials. A big thank you to Fred Johnson for organising this event and to Penny Foudoulis & Heath Newport for adjudicating over the weekend.

The top three players from each group progress to the Top 16 stage next weekend and will be joined by the four seeds, Mongrel, Phil M, Murray & Sid.

2025 Masters Trials – Groups

We have 45 entries for this years Masters Trials at the Harmonie German Club on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th, starting at 10am.The top 4 seeds (Mongrel, Phil M, Murray and Sid) go through to the Top16 round next week.

That leaves us with 41 players so there will be 1 group of 11 and 3 groups of 10. As a result of the large group sizes, it has been decided that we will run a 2 x round robin this year.

The top 3 players from each group will join the top 4 seeds to go onto the Top16 round. (If there is a tie for 3rd place, a playoff will be required)

Special General Meeting – 5th May 2025

There will be a Special General meeting – 5th May 2025 @ 6.30pm (followed by Monthly Captain meeting)

Purpose: To change fees and Membership outside of an AGM as set out in ACTEBA Constitution – Item 5. Memberships & Item 6. Subscriptions

The Core Executive call and SGM to review above mentioned items to allow the association to incorporate the new AEBF Affiliation structure.

A brief outline of some options have been indicated below. The week prior to the SGM an agenda and formal motion of a proposed membership and fee structure will be provided for all members to review. The association will also run a poll to gather feedback prior to the meeting to ensure a structure that aligns with our associations goals and growth is adopted.

The following options are some initial thoughts on ways forward.

  1. ACTEBA moves all registration for event to PlayHQ and a AEBF Affiliation fee be attached to registration
  2. A members fees to join the association and/or play in event proposed to change to one of or a combination of the following:
    1. One off annual Membership fee to play in any ACTEBA Event based on whether you are a representative player or regular season player
    2. One off annual Membership fee to play in any ACTEBA Event at a fixed rate (same for any member)
    3. A tiered entry fee for members to play in league of selections trials, based on representative status or regular league player
    4. A tiered entry fee for members to play in league of selections trials, based on what division you play in
    5. ACTEBA adjust fees to partially subsidise the AEBF affiliation (which the associations currently pays $4000pa), to maintain the current financial position. Some financial reports and forecast will be provided to show the short and long term impact of what changing fees now will do

Please note, these are just broad ideas, and we are not limited to these options at this point. A lower-level detail of proposal will be provided prior to the meeting.
