NOTE: THE FORMAT FOR THIS EVENT HAS CHANGED – IF YOU ARE RANKED OUTSIDE OF THE TOP 48 YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ENTRIES IN PROMPTLY TO AVOID MISSING OUT……. THE EVENT IS CAPPED AT 96 PLAYERS AND IT WILL FILL QUICKLY.

ALSO NOTE…… THE DATE FOR THIS EVENT HAS CHANGED TO WHAT WAS ADVERTISED ON THE CALENDAR DUE TO VENUE AVAILABILITY – NEW DATE IS THE 19TH (EVENING) 20TH & 21ST OF MAY – see following link to updated calendar which has resulted in Ladies event being push back 1 week. This will be updated on the website calendar ASAP. – 2017 Calendar_Final 6-3-17
Previously it was discussed that the Ladies and Masters singles event would be played all in the one weekend with the Open. This isn’t possible, so the Ladies and Masters Singles will be run as a separate singles event (similar to the new Open Singles format) and they will run during the times allocated on the schedule.
If you enter and you are outside the Top 48 ranked players and entries are full. You will be notified and added to the waiting list.
There will be a separate Open Trials Event to qualify for the remaining spots in ACT Open State Team…….. the format for the trials has also changed. Please see below format for the trials event (Entry form and further details for the trail will published at a later stage)
ACT Open Selection Trials (separate event and entries will be taken in May):
o Open to all members
o Ran over 3 weekends plus the Top 20 players playing over 2 weekends
o Seeds based on current Rankings at time of event
Format – Based on a typical 148 Entrants (same as 2016)
• Top 8 seeds get a Bye straight into the Top 20 (the final weekend)
• Week 1 (Seeds 9 to 40 have a Bye….. 32 players)
– 108 players split into 12 groups of 9
– Round robin x 3
– Top 3 players proceed to week 2
• Week 2 (68 players)
– 4 groups of 8 and 4 of 9
– Round robin x 4 (will only use 3 table venues)
– Top 3 players proceed to week 3
• Week 3 (24 players)
– 3 groups of 8
– Round robin x 5 (will only use 4 table venues)
– Top 4 progress to Final/Top 20
• Week 4 & 5 – Top 20 (12 qualifying players from above join Top 8 Seeds)
– Played over 3 days over 2 weekends (Sat, Sun & Sat)
– Round robin x 5
– Top 7 qualify for State Team and join Winner & Runner-up from singles event
Note: The number of seeds that get a bye may vary depending on final numbers entered in the event.
