The 2013 ACTEBA Opens and Ladies 9-ball Champions were decided this weekend at The Basement in Belconnen.
The Opens ACTEBA 9-Ball Champion for 2013 is Matt Harmon!
The Ladies ACTEBA 9-Ball Champion for 2013 is Nicole Welsh!
Congratulations to the both of these players.
Matt Harmon played Matt Power in the Final, and won 9- 5. It was a great effort from both players. Matt Harmon was looking in good form on the Saturday and clearly it carried over on the Sunday. Matt Power had an amazing tournament too. After being pushed to the repechage in the first round by Michael Masal, Matt Power had a quiet word with me and said “I’m going be the first player to win the title after losing in the first round”. It was a huge effort to come back to play in the Final by Matt Power, but Matt Harmon was just too good on the day. Congratulations to both of them.
In the Ladies tournament Theresa Whitten, Melissa Chapelli, Nicole Welsh and Cindy Blackmore duked it out in a round robin format. At the end of the day on Sunday, Nicole, Cindy and Theresa had won two matches each and were all tied on 7 frames. Melissa had an enjoyable day on the tables but wasn’t able to come away with a win. Nicole and Theresa still had one match to play though on the Sunday to determine the top two Ladies before a championship match was played. On Sunday it was Nicole and Theresa that emerged from the round robin as the top two ladies.
