Hi all
You couldn’t have asked for a better round going into the last weekend of the 2011 ACTEBA Open Singles Title. With one group decided by a playoff, the other 3 all had just one frame separating 4th and 5th.
While group 3 had three players tied for 2nd on 16 frames, 5th place was just one back on 15. But Group 2 produced the tensest finish of the day, as 3rd and 4th sat equal on 14 frames, 5th, 6th and 7th were just one frame back on 13!!!
Anthony Chia and Edmund Chen both dominated their groups with 20/8 and 19/9 respectively, but commiserations must go to JR, who missed out on the 16 in a playoff for the second year in a row.
Next weekend sees only one Singles Champion approaching the table in the ’01 and ’08 Champion Dean Welsh, but there is plenty of Top 4 and State Team experience, plus the last two Singles Runners Up, Anthony Chia and Stephen Thomas.
In addition to these three, we have one half of the current Doubles Champions in Edmund Chen, and never forget Mongrel – the ’10 and ’11 Masters Champion.
But a special congratulations has to go to our debutants, Jason Scott and Dragan Markovic, as well as a returning Ged Johnston after a 7 year hiatus from the top flight.
So, after 3,626 frames so far, we return this weekend to The Maram to knock off another 480 to decide the 2011 ACT Mens State Team. Good luck to all 16 players this weekend, it promises to be a tremendous two days of Eight Ball.

Note for players in the Top 16 – the Top 4 is scheduled for Saturday July 23, venue can be negotiated pending availability.
