Over the weekend ACTEBA held the 2019 Singles Championships.
A huge congratulation to Paul Carlile who has taken out the event. This is the first state title Paul has won, and also the first time in ACTEBA history, a Masters player (over 50) has won the Open Singles Event. Well done Paul!
Paul defeated Mick Norton in a nail biting final 10-8. Commiserations Mick, but well done on making the final.
The change of format in the last 3 years has produced 3 different champions, showing how hard this event is to win. The 10 years prior to changing the format there was only 4 separate winners.
Congratulations to Paul & Mick once again, and for also been the first 2 qualifiers for the 2019 ACT Open Team.
I would also like to take this opportunity to Thank Graham O’Connell, Tammie Ashlin and Sean Ledson for Adjudicating over the weekend. It was a massive weekend, and I couldn’t have done it without your help. I actually had time to sit down and chill, and watch other matches. Thanks guys.
Also to Kenny Nicol and Cueball TZ for streaming the final day. The quality of the stream is first class and I’m sure everyone that was watching appreciate the hours you put into providing live streaming.
Lastly, Thank you also goes to Ian ‘Mongrel’ Will for setting up the additional tables and to the Harmonie German club for the once again fantastic hospitality!
