Congratulations to Jason Tanaskovic on taking out this weekend ACT Open State Title.

This is Jason’s first ACT Singles Title which is a massive effort with a great field of players under a tougher new format. Well Done JT!
The runner-up this year was Kenny Nicol. Commiserations to Kenny but a great effort in reaching the final for the 3rd time. I know Kenny will be disappointed in not taking the title at his 3rd attempt in the final……. but you are only one frame away and I’m sure your time will come.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people and pass on a few comments I have received.
First of all I would like to thank the ACTEBA members for entering the Tournament and embracing the new format. I understand this was a big change and there was some confusion regarding this event and the trials. I think the event was a huge success and I believe majority of members agree based on the texts, emails, personal messages, the thanks I received over the weekend and Facebook posts. It did take a lot of effort to get this format of the ground and for it to actually run smoothly over the weekend. I do appreciate all the gratitude players showed and commented to me on over the weekend (and beverages that were provided 🙂 ) .
Thank you to Paul Berger and the Harmonie German Club for the great venue and setup…… it looked awesome! Thanks to Paul for also staying back late last night after the club closed to enable us to finish.
Thanks to Mongrel @ OnCue Sports for providing, setting up and maintaining the extra tables over the weekend.
To George Nitsis @ ACT 8 Ball…. Thank you for Live for the stream all day Sunday. Also to Long Dang for assisting George all day and monitoring the stream and comments. Great job guys in bringing 8 Ball in Canberra to a wider audience…. Look forward to working with you at the Kings Cup.
I would also like to thank Penny Foudoulis for assisting with adjudicating on Saturday while I was playing and for most of the afternoon. Gave me a good break to relax and have some lunch in peace.
Lastly to my Lovely Wife Kathy for supporting me in the time and effort it takes me away from our family to run an event like this…….. and for enabling me to spend 40 hours at the pub over 2 and a bit days 🙂
Looking forward to the rest of the trials and moving onto the Kings cup in 3 weeks time…. this event was a taste of what the Kings Cup will be like this year….. so encourage everyone to enter 🙂
Regards,
Matt Harmon
