Apologies for the late notification of the results of the 2016 Open Singles Top 4 played a few weeks ago….. partly delayed as It’s a bit weird congratulating yourself 🙂
Congratulation to Matt Harmon (Go me 🙂 ) for winning the 2016 Open Singles Title….
A great effort to all players that made the Top 4 this year….. it was the 1st time for 3 of the players in making the Top 4 in Canberra.
Congratulation to Shane Smith on making the final who played well all day. Shane played a great final and showed great spirit after being down 6-2 to get it back to 6 all…. I think having the whole Smith family, extended family and half the Matildas there supporting him and cheering every movement helped somewhat 🙂 . My little support team (Kath & Jay), helped me gain focus and managed to get the next 3 frames to take the title.
I went into the final confident, but I had in the back of my mind if Shane won he would of thoroughly deserved it and I would have been very happy for him. Even though I was keen on winning, I guess that helped me relax and get over the line. Great effort Shane and I’m sure you will give it a good crack again next year.
Well done to Sid Scott & Jakk Phillips who finished 3rd & 4th respectively. It was quite a close round robin, with 3 of the 4 players still having a chance of making the final going into the last matches of the round robin.
