Over the weekend we held the 2016 State 9 Ball Championships at the Harmonie German Club.

Congratulations to Sithu Lwin for winning the Open and Theresa Whitten the Ladies event.
Sithu played consistent all weekend and reached the final through the winners side. Sithu played Nicole Welsh in the final and Nicole had to defeat Sithu twice in a race to 9 in the Grand Final to take the title…. Nicole started of the final in great form and took the first match 9 -5 to take it to a deciding match. Nicole got off to another good start in the second match leading all the way. Sithu fought back and managed to take it to the deciding frame at 8 all. Sithu held his nerve and won the final frame taking the title 9-8. This is Sithu’s first ACT title and a great effort in only the 3rd time entering the event. Great effort to Nicole as well, this is only the second time a female player has made the final in this events history.
Over to the Ladies…… we had 9 entries which I believe is the most entries in the ladies 9 ball event which is great to see. Theresa was also consistent all day going through the winners side of the tournament. Theresa played Lesieli O’Connor in the final which was their second match of the day after a close 4-3 match in the semi’s. Theresa continued her good form of the day into the final defeating Les 5-1. Congratulation Theresa and well done to Les on making the final.
I would like to thank Paul Berger and the Harmonie German Club for providing the fantastic venue. The tables were great and all the staff were friendly all weekend. FYI – all 6 tables are remaining at the club and are available for hire on an hourly rate.
