Congratulations to Ian (Mongrel) Will who took out the 2015 Masters Singles Title yesterday. This is Mongrel’s 6th Straight Masters title which is an amazing effort with a high quality Masters contingent in ACT.
Mongrel defeated Sid Scott in the final 7 – 5. Sid got off to a great start leading 2 – 0, then 4 – 2. Mongrel railed it back to 4 all, but Sid was still up for a fight winning the next frame to make it 5-4. Mongrel lifted his game and played some great pool to turn things around and lead 6-5. The 12th frame was a tight frame and could have went either way. Sid has first opportunity on the black, but unfortunately fouled leaving Mongrel two visits to finish the frame and take the title.
Commiserations to Sid, but great effort in pushing Mongrel and making his first Masters Singles final.
Well done to Jack Dehm & Phil Morton for making the Top 4 in ACT and also to Tolly Auva’a who finished 5th to make up the 2015 Masters team to travel to Albury in October.
