Northsiders rejoice!
The proprietors of the Page Tavern, Des and Lyn, would like everyone to know that they have had both their tables restored to 1st Grade standard, and to celebrate they’ll be opening that shiny new felt up for free play, all day, on Sundays.
I also have it on good authority that their range of frosty brewed beverages is also quite palatable, so drop in and thank Des and Lyn for their sterling efforts in supporting ACTEBA teams and players.
The Maram will be running a four person teams comp again.
We are hoping to start this comp on Tuesday 2 February.
The comp will run for 14 weeks plus finals and is open to a maximum of eight teams.
Entry fee is $15 per player, with each team registering a minimum of four and a maximum of five players. Each team can register a maximum of two players ranked in the top 50, as per the current ACTEBA rankings.

A friendly reminder: the first Captain’s Meeting of 2010 will be held next week on Monday 18th January, 7pm, at the Serbian Club on Heard St in Mawson. The rankings, draw and Captain’s Packs for the Summer 2010 Season will be distributed at this meeting.
Any captains (or players) who currently hold perpetual trophies or shields are asked to return them at the meeting so that they can be engraved in time for Presentation Night. (Not so friendly reminder: trophy holders signed a register, and you will be fined if you do not return the trophy on time.)

A news item on The Riot-ACT website brings word that the Chisholm Tavern will be changing its name to The Jag Bar.
We welcome you to run riot with the ample opportunity for wordplay in the comments.
Also, local rock/blues/mod/pop juggernauts The Feldons will be kicking out the jams at the newly monickered Jag Bar this Sunday (December 13). Drop in for some good tunes from 2.30.
The Serbian Club have advised us that they are looking to host teams in the upcoming 2010 Summer season, and are in negotiations to have their tables re-felted and the lighting upgraded.
