Premier League Snooker Live!

During November, FOXSPORTS will show (some) Premier League Snooker (including the Final) Live! Watch FOX 1 at 6:30 am on Nov 5th, 19th & 29th. On Nov 5th, Neil will play Marco Fu and Shaun Murphy plays Mark Selby. On Nov 19th, Neil will play Shaun Murphy, and Ronnie O’Sullivan plays Mark Selby. Nov 29th – The Final(First to 7 Frames)!!

Could all members email Foxsports and encourage them to continue broadcasting the snooker LIVE each week?!

ACT 7 – 13 VIC

The ACT Ladies have finished Australian Runners-Up in a fantastic effort! After sitting at 4-4, the Vics won six straight to lead 10-4, from which position the battle was always going to be hard for our girls.

Congratulations to all the girls on a brilliant Nationals campaign.

ACT LADIES MAKE NATIONAL FINAL!!!

A massive effort from the ACT Ladies Team has seen them become the first ACT side to make a National Final! Lead by Captain Les O’Connor and tournament top shooter Nicole Welsh, the girls lead from the front to hold off WA in the 3rd/4th semi final to win 13-10.

In the Preliminary Final, the girls took an even bigger lead to maintain an advantage over Qld and come out winners 13-8.

The Ladies Team play their Grand Final against Victoria tomorrow at 12 midday. The entire ACT Eight Ball Association wishes them luck in what will be a tough match. The girls have shown they can match the best in the country and now it is time to show what they can do. Win or lose, though, they have made us all proud, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves – they’re gonna win dammit!!!

PS I will hold my end of tournament review off by another day…

Nationals Round Robin comes to an end

As you’ve seen from Matt K’s post below, the ACT Ladies have made the finals for the second straight year!!!

I’m still waiting on the final stats to come on to the AEBF website, but I can confirm that Nicole Welsh has come equal first in the stats for the Ladies!!!! This is a great result for Nicole and apparently something she was not aware of until the final matches were being played.

Nationals 2010: Ladies Team through to finals

Quick update: the ACT Ladies team have secured a spot in the finals at the 2010 Nationals, with a triumphant 11-7 victory over South Australia in round 13. Well done!

Juniors Fundraiser Tournament/Event

A tournament will be held to help raise funds for the 2010 Juniors squad.

Date: 27 November     Venue: The Maram     Entry: $40

Format: Two comps will be run, one for Top32 ranked players, and one for everyone else. Prize pool will be based on entries – $10 per entry goes to the Juniors squad, the rest goes to the prize pool.

There will also be raffles and door prizes on the day, with prizes including:

A fully stocked bar fridge / Webber BBQ and meat / Pool table lights / Meat Trays
Alcohol / Framed, signed ACT 8-Ball shirts / Bar and Bistro vouchers

Draw: 2010 Winter Finals Round 1

Hi all,

Below are the matches (and venues) for week 1 of the finals series of the ACTEBA 2010 Winter Competition. Please note these matches are on Wednesday November 3 (not next week). But a few important things first:

– it is up to the Home team captain to advise their venue of the match, and to brush and block the tables;
– the first team listed is also the Home team on the scoresheet (ie no coin toss to decide);
– as soon as one team reaches 13, the match is over (you do not need to finish all 24 frames);
– the winners play each other in week 2, as do the teams that don’t win (ie the losers!)
