Provisional minutes from the September 2010 meeting (regular meeting, not the AGM) are now available for review:
Results: 2010 Winter Round 9
Hi all,
The open and ladies 9 ball events are on this weekend at the Maram. The Open, commencing at 10am Saturday (tables open from 9.30am), has 48 players and 8 seeds (1-Dragan, 2-Phil Bailey, 3-Ged Johnston, 4-JR, 5-Matt Power, 6-Semisi, 7-Anthony Chia and 8-Matt Harmon). Prizemoney totals $630 (1st – $300, 2nd – $180, 3rd – $100, 4th – $50).
The ladies event will commence at 12 noon on Sunday, with 8 entries and 2 seeds (1-Nicole Welsh and 2-Theresa Whitten), battling it out for prizemoney of $210 (1st – $120, 2nd – $60, 3rd – $30).
Rules that will be used on the day will be the BCA 9-Ball Rules. Please note that for both of these events, entries are now closed. See you Saturday!

Results: 2010 Winter Round 8
Hi all,
Firstly, an update on the 9 ball competitions coming up. It will be played at the Maram on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of September, with the Open event on the Saturday and the Ladies event on the Sunday. Start times will be confirmed when we finalise entry numbers (I’ll advise with next week’s results).
Open 9 Ball – 64 player draw double elimination – 40 entries to date – 21 spots remain open
Ladies 9 Ball – 8 or 16 player draw (depending on numbers) double elimination – 8 entries to date
Late entries are welcome, until the remaining spots are filled, but you must contact either Chris Jones (0403 545 619) or myself (0438 214 008) before 8pm Wednesday 8th. We will let you pay the fees ($15) on the day, but you won’t be allowed to play if you have not paid. All players must check in with the adjudicator upon arrival to complete the random draw. All seeds for the Open event (8 of ’em) receive a bye in round one where possible, depending on entries.

2010 9 Ball Championships
The 2010 9 Ball Championships will be held on the weekend of 11/12 September at The Maram. We still have 25 places remaining in the 64 player draw for the Opens on Saturday 11, as well as 8 places remaining in the 16 player draw for the Ladies on Sunday 12.
The format is double elimination and the entry fee is $15 so you will get at least two matches of a race to 5 for your entry fee. Who knows, it’s nine ball not eight ball so you might even knock off a big name…
Please contact me on 0403 545 619 before Friday 10th if you wish to enter. Note that NO player will be entered without paying the entry fee prior to commencement of play.

Results: 2010 Winter Round 7
Hi all,
Half way through the season, and there is no division where the top 4 looks even close to decided. We have 6 undefeated teams, none of which have won every match, and amazingly the Basement Jacks are one of them however are 4th on the ladder (they’ve had 1 win, 5 draws and a bye!). Most teams are still in the race, so it’s now time to get serious people! And don’t forget, the AGM is coming up… Mon 6th Sept, 7pm at the Serbian Club MAWSON.

2010 Open Doubles Champions

Congratulations to Dean & Matt on their 2nd Doubles title as a pair, to go with their 2005 victory. But the going wasn’t always easy, as they had to fight back from an average first round to storm home into the finals.
The weekend began with 12 pairs fighting it out for the four spots in the finals, with last year’s finalists not competing (although runner up Anthony Chia had found a new partner in Stephen Thomas), the defending 3rd and 4th placings of Mongrel & Mick Norton and Michael Hazilias & Rony Sood looked to be favourites along with Dean & Matt and Anthony & Steve. But at this level, no one can be counted out, and backing up from last year’s Top 8 were Alessandro Nasca & Dragan Markovic (who had missed last year’s Top 4 by a playoff), while Top 16 pairs Ben Boyd & Troy Miller (again missing advancement by playoff), Nicole Welsh & Semisi Naupoto and 2008 Runners Up Peter Madden & Peter (Chippa) Penfold were back for another crack. Ian Stanley & Ted Mallowes, Jack Dehm & Matt Connor and Dylan McFawn & Kris Bandte joined my personal wildcards, Kenny Nicol & Richard Bondietti to make up the field. Continue reading

State Trials: 2010 Open Doubles Round 2 Results
An exciting weekend of doubles was played over the weekend at The Maram, with two groups seeing playoffs and the final 12 pairs decided in the race for the 2010 ACTEBA Open Doubles Title. With only the Top 3 going through to the final round, competition was always going to be tight. Continue reading
